Apple In Ear Headphones With Remote And Mic
Part I Unboxing
I got my Apple In Ear Headphones With Remote And Mic on December 22, 2008! But was to busy listing to them, so I ended posting the video on Christmas Eve. The sound quality is Just fantastic. The base is very weak, so I went into the iPod's settings and enabled Base booster. It actually help. And at my iPod touch's max volume with base booster enabled the sound did not distort. The base was very powerful when base booster was enabled. I compared these to the original Apple In ear headphones and noticed a dramatic improvement.
Now for the Review.

iPod Touch Track You.
Ok so i was connected to my Wi Fi network and using Google Maps. I was walking my neighbors dog and the Maps App showed me moving. It shows the circle moving. So the iPod touch can find out were your moving to with out Path Tracker, and a GPS!!

Macworld 2009
We expect Macworld 2009 in January to be focused more on the Mac. We
do expect software updates like 2.3 to be announced. There will be an
update for all apple products to update to following, Copyright 2008
Apple Inc. to say Copy 2009 Apple Inc. We also should see new cinima
displays and a new Mac Mini.
As stated earlier New Macbooks and Macbook Pros should arrive October
14, 2008! A 9-5mac or somthing says Apple has a new brick
manufactering procces that uses water jets and lasers to carve into
the metal to make the devices. We doubt this but hey anythings possible.

Apple iPhone
I bought a used iPhone from my neighbor. It is an 8GB and it the 1st
gen. He already upgraded to an iPhone 3G. The phone is in great
condition. Only used for 5 hours of talk time. He swapped it out and
got a new one, not a referbished with a 5K serial number. Then he got
the 3G and sold us his old one. Now we can test all updated like 2.1
and report how it does. Because the SIM card is deactivated we are
stuck with 2.0 and it's not to buggy. No lagging anywere. Downloading
and installing Apps and backups are slow, but we can live with it.
When we put it on Go-Phone pick your plan we will update it to 2.1 or
what ever it avable by then and let u know. I will be using it once my
birthday arives on November 11. I was just test driving it over the
week end.
Hey at least my iPod Touch can hold me over till then.

Raging Thunder Now Avable
From the creators of Crash Bandicoot Nitro 3D is Raging Thunder.
It uses the accelormeter for steering and has WiFi Player mode. Idk if
the wifi means you need the devices conned to the same router like
Asphalt 4 or if it plays over the Internet.

Yes we got the new nano. We got the 8GB one in blue and it's stunning

Apple Recalls All Ultracompact USB Power Adapters
Apple has issued a recall for there Power Adapters sold with Apple's New iPhone 3G and also sold online here. Thats why it says shipping in 2-3 Weeks. Apple has said the prongs will break off and remain in the ac outlet posing a fire or shock risk. Apple will begin exchanging them on Friday, October 10, 2008! Apple has urged all costomers charge there iPhones through there computers or The Apple Charger with fold up prongs. The effected models have don't have a green dot on them. Yes we downloaded the 2.1 for our orig Apple iPod touch.
Here is what has changed
Improved battery life.
Really Faster when downloading and installing Apps
Much faster back up. Although it only back ups settings and your spot
in games and is not a big deal if the apps are already on your computer.
Contacts alot faster
When in mail and hit the plus button contacts does not freeze or lag
Better WiFi signal
App store no longer freezes or lags
Genuis playlist
Improved UI
Better sound

iLounge claims to have dimensions of the new iPod Nano and iPod Touch which are expected to be released at next week's September 9th media event.
The new iPod Nano resembles circulating rumors, though the front display does not appear to be as curved as previously depicted. Case manufacturer XSKN is already selling cases for the 4th Generation nano which match the design.
The new iPod Touch will be receiving a tapered design much like the new iPhone 3G. The new case appears to be slightly thicker than the existing iPod Touch and also reveals physical volume controls which are absent on the current iPod Touch.Apple is expected to release these new iPods on September 9th, 2008.

Apple has sent out invitations for a music-related event next week, and the smart money is on new iPods.
The invitation, titled "Let's Rock," went out Tuesday morning inviting media to the Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts in San Francisco next Tuesday at 10 a.m. PDT. Rumors have been building for weeks that Apple is set to introduce new iPods at what will be its fourth September iPod event in as many years.
We will let you know what happens. We will be getting our info from Engadget! The reason for that is we won't be there and can't update it every secound. We will update it before 5:00 PM EST on Tuesday, September 9, 2008! We've been expecting Apple to hold a September iPod-related event since March, when audio chipmaker Wolfson informed its shareholders that it had been shut out of the design of next-generation media players from "a major Tier 1 customer" who planned a third-quarter launch. Launching in September gives Apple plenty of time to build distribution and marketing for new iPods ahead of the holiday shopping season, when the company sells the bulk of its iPods for the year.

Apple iPod Touch and iPhone Tips.
If iPod freezes hold down the home and sleep/wake button at the same time till the apple log appears.
If you iPod won't restore, fource iPod into recovery mode/DFU mode by connecting ipod to you computer and holding the home and sleep/wake button down and when the apple logo appears let go of the sleep/wake button but keep holding the home button until the computer says it has detected an iPod in recovery mode. Please restore iPod and click restore.
To arrange the home icons hold down any icon until the wiggle then move them to there diserd locations.
If you want to take a screen shot hold down the home and sleep/wake button for 1 secound and let go. the screen will flash.
When it Safari if going to a web site with .edu, .org etc... hold down the .com button and drag you finger to the one you want. More tips coming soon.

New Motorola Moto Q on AT&T
That mysterious silver Motorola Q9h that has been reported has finally went on at AT&T. With metallic pinstripes and a silver keyboard, it looks like our picture was spot on. As expected, it runs Windows Mobile 6.1 with standard features like 3G and GPS. You know how we love us some AT&T Navigator… Nice color and a new version of Windows Mobile but not much more than the previous Q9h. It is available now for $149.99 with a two-year contract. Also, a new version of BlackBerry Connect has been posted to Motorola’s site which adds compatibility with Windows Mobile 6.1 on the Q9. Any takers, or was this just an unnecessary refresh?

Good afternoon. Cracked ear buds
Here is just a question about Apple's In the ear head phones. They
cost 40 bucks but mine within one month the wire insulation cracked
rendering the right phone unusable. So apple sent me another set and
it was 3 days when I got to open it and it had the same problem but
both worked. Any one else have the same issue?

I got one for Christmas and i love it. The soud can go high with out destorting the sound. Nice soft blue leds look beautuful. The only down sides is no battery compartment, flimsy remote and flimsy construction. it wobbles and feels like it would crack. My friend had his on max voulme and max base and that cracked the back.
Mine after 8 months the dock connecter came loose and no longer works with out pushing on the iPod. At lease there is a in port. To day Altec won't offer any help. I do recommend this but be very carful as it won't last for ever.

Apple and AT&T Discussing Official Tethering Option for iPhone?
Gizmodo reports on an alleged email Steve Jobs sent to one of their readers. The email was in response to a complaint that AT&T is not offering a tethering option for the iPhone, even though it is offered on other smartphones as a $30/month add-on. The response acknowledged Apple and AT&T were discussing the option:

Apple acknowledges iPhone passcode flaw, promises fix next month
Apple's taking a pretty lackadaisical attitude toward one of the most easily avoided security flaws in recent memory, calling the iPhone's passcode lock bypass a "minor iPhone security issue" and saying that a fix will be rolled out in September. Thanks, Apple; we suppose it'd be a little too much trouble to ask for a fix sooner, even though you already fixed it once in 1.1.4. For what it's worth, a company spokeswoman is quick to point out that the flaw can easily be hidden by changing the home button double-click functionality to take you to the home screen, but most users don't know that, now do they? Way to show some hustle, guys -- cookies and gold stars all around.
New Apple TV In September?
It is time for apple to refresh some of there products, like Macbook iPods and iMacs. Also the Apple TV. We have seen reports saying it will have a DVD slot in it. and will come in 160Gb and 320GB at $229.99 and $329.99! We may also see a Blue Ray drive bumping it up to $629 and $729
The New Apple TV will also have the same deminsions as Apple's Mac Mini.
Cheaper Price For Apple's Time Capsule Coming? !UPDATED!
Apple's Air Post Express and Hard Drive Station may be facing a price drop in September.
Apple's U.S. online store is currently displaying two sets of listings for Apple's Time Capsule combination wireless basestation and hard drive. Currently priced at $299 for the 500 GB model and $499 for the 1 TB model, the store lists these items available for shipment within 24 hours. There is, however, a second pair of listings priced at $249 for the 500 GB model and $419 for the 1 TB model, with both scheduled to ship in "4 weeks".
The thumbnails next to the lower-priced listings show a generic Apple "brown box" image for the 500 GB model and an incorrect Apple TV image for the 1 TB model, but the individual product pages for these new models correctly show existing Time Capsule stock images. The product descriptions and system requirements for the two sets of listings are identical.
Update: It appears from the "FB" prefix of the model numbers that these are likely refurbished Time Capsules mistakenly showing up in search results for the regular store.
Power Contol Software Blamed For Apple iPhone 3G Reception Issues?
A plausible scenario for the iPhone 3G reception problems has emerged: it's a power thing.
RoughlyDrafted reported Thursday that a source with AT&T blamed "faulty" power-control software inside the iPhone 3G for the dropped calls and poor reception that owners have been experiencing since the device was released in July. In short, the iPhone 3G demands too much power--more than is necessary--from a local cell tower to maintain a connection, and when multiple iPhones try to glom onto the same tower, the problem snowballs.
The iPhone OS 2.0.2 software update was designed to fix this power-control problem, according to RoughlyDrafted's source. However, the source believes that the problems will not go away entirely until all iPhone 3G owners--or quite a few--upgrade to the 2.0.2 software:
In a mixed environment where users are running 2.0, 2.0.1, and 2.0.2, the power control problems of 2.0 and 2.0.1 will affect the 2.0.2 users. Obituary for Steve Jobs? FAKE!
An electronic gaffe at news outlet Bloomberg mistakenly sent an incomplete obituary for Apple CEO Steve Jobs over the wire on Wednesday afternoon, and a tipster promptly sent the soon-retracted file to gossip blog Gawker.

The lengthy file contains not only a preliminary obituary for the iconic Apple chief, but also a list of suggested contacts for a more extensive story--Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, and early Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki, among others.
The summary of Jobs' accomplishments, per the obituary, is that he "helped make personal computers as easy to use as telephones, changed the way animated films are made, persuaded consumers to tune into digital music, and refashioned the mobile phone."
It's not out of the ordinary at all that Bloomberg would have this written; all major news outlets have notable persons' obituaries prepared in advance so that only minor changes need be made at the actual time of death. That way, the news can be reported almost immediately and can be updated with further detail.
But a Jobs obituary, however premature, is more chilling than, say, a Bill Gates obituary. The Apple CEO successfully battled pancreatic cancer earlier this decade, and a magazine profile indicated that he had kept it secret for nine months while researching alternative treatments--a questionable move for any chief executive of a publicly traded company, but especially one as crucial to the runnings of the business as Jobs is.
When Jobs appeared onstage at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2008, his thin appearance led some bloggers and company critics to speculate that he was ill again, and some of them pushed the bounds of decency in demanding that Apple reveal the state of the executive's health to shareholders.
So given a CEO whose health has been discussed so speculatively in the echo chamber of the blogosphere, and whose company's stock has been shown to be far from immune to the influence of the rumor mill, the appearance--however brief--of a Jobs obituary online must certainly have been disquieting for those who stumbled upon it.
Bloomberg released a retraction later on Wednesday that made only the vaguest of reference to the content of the gaffe. "An incomplete story referencing Apple Inc. was inadvertently published by Bloomberg News at 4:27 p.m. New York time today," the retraction read. "The item was never meant for publication and has been retracted.

The good: The Palm Treo Pro boasts a sleek design and offers a wide range of wireless options, including Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth, and GPS. The Windows Mobile smartphone also provides many productivity and communication tools for the business user.
The bad: The Treo Pro is too expensive and can be sluggish at times. The QWERTY keyboard is cramped and doesn't really suit the business feel of the device.
The bottom line: The Palm Treo Pro offers significant improvements in the design and features department, but the smartphone doesn't offer anything revolutionary and costs more than its competitors, which will make it a hard sell.

While not the best-kept secret in the technology world, with leaked photos and videos all over the Net, we were still amped over Palm's official unveiling of the Palm Treo Pro. And why wouldn't we be? The smartphone looked pretty sharp, both inside and out. However, now that we've had some hands-on time with the device, our initial excitement is starting to fade. Don't get us wrong; there is plenty to like about the Treo Pro. Keyboard aside, we really like the updated and attractive design of the smartphone. It's sexy and is the sleekest touch screen/full QWERTY combination, in our opinion. The Treo Pro certainly isn't lacking in the features department either. The business-centric mobile comes loaded with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition and the full gamut of wireless options, including HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Now, while this is well and good, at this point, Palm is simply playing catch up to the competition. Add the fact that, for the time being, Palm is only selling the Treo Pro as an unlocked phone for a whopping $549, and we have a problem. While we understand the freedom of an unlocked phone, we just don't see anything that really justifies such a high price tag. It's unfortunate since it's a generally solid device, but we think you can get comparable smartphones for less. Palm did not release a specific release date but it's expected to be available later this fall.
DesignThe Palm Treo Pro represents a complete redesign for the Treo line, and it's most definitely welcome. The Treo Pro completely sheds the outdated, clunky design of previous models and trades it in for a sleeker frame, measuring 4.4 inches high by 2.3 inches wide by 0.5 inch deep and 4.7 ounces. When compared with the recent Palm Treo 800w, which measures 4.4 inches high by 2.2 inches wide by 0.7 inch deep and weighs 5 ounces, the numbers might not that seem that significant, but in hand, you can notice the difference, especially in thinness. You should be able to slip the Treo Pro into a pants pocket with no problem, and it's still the only smartphone we can think of that successfully combines a full QWERTY keyboard and touch screen into one sleek device. The eye-catching black lacquer casing is icing on the cake, but it does have a tendency to hold smudges.
Palm has done a lot to improve the design and hardware of its smartphones. Here is the Treo Pro sandwiched between the Palm Treo 700p and the Palm Centro.
The Treo Pro features a 2.5-inch TFT touch screen with a 320x320-pixel resolution that makes for a fairly bright, crisp screen, though we thought colors looked a bit washed out. The Today Screen gives you one-touch access to your wireless options, upcoming appointments, e-mail, and Google search, and you can customize the Today screen with various background images and themes. The Treo Pro also introduces a new screensaver that will show you the time, any missed calls, or new text/multimedia messages at a glance. It's a small but convenient enhancement.
Below the display, you'll find a redesigned navigation array. You get the standard soft keys, Talk and End buttons, an OK button, shortcuts to the Start menu, Calendar, and Inbox, and a navigation toggle with a center select key. The latter will also flash when you have voice mail. Overall, the controls are fairly easy to use. The shortcut keys are set flush with the phone's surface, and we were initially concerned that they might be hard to press, but this really wasn't the case.
We weren't huge fans of the Treo Pro's QWERTY keyboard. It's pretty cramped and doesn't really suit the business-centric smartphone.
Unfortunately, we did find some issues with the full QWERTY keyboard. The Treo Pro's keyboard is pretty much the same one found on the Palm Centro. There's a tad more spacing between the buttons than the Centro, but it's still fairly cramped. I have small hands and had problems using the keyboard, so I would imagine it will give users with larger thumbs some difficulty. We also think that the keyboard doesn't really suit the smartphone. The Palm Treo Pro is designed for business users, and while the cute, gelatinous buttons might be OK for the consumer-centric Centro, it looks a bit unprofessional and childlike on the Treo Pro. We would have preferred the hard buttons from previous Treos.
On the left spine, there's a volume rocker and a customizable side key, while the right side has a Wi-Fi power button. The top of the unit has a power button and silent ringer switch. A microUSB port and 3.5 headphone jack are located on the bottom. Finally, the camera lens (sans flash or self-portrait mirror) and a side speaker are on the back, and a microSD expansion slot is hidden behind the battery cover.
In a first, Palm will ship the Treo Pro in sustainable packaging, which includes recycled content and a recyclable box.
The packaging and accessories included with the Palm Treo Pro are worth a mention. First, Palm is doing its part to help the environment by shipping the Treo Pro in a recyclable box and other recycled material. The user manuals are printed with soy ink, and the software CD (containing ActiveSync and more) is now preinstalled on the smartphone. You should be able to simply connect the device to your computer via USB cable, and access the content or install ActiveSync. As for the actual accessories, Palm revamped the power charger that lets you swap out the adapters and improved earbuds. In all, the Palm Treo Pro comes packaged with an AC adapter, a USB cable, a wired stereo headset, and reference material. Other productivity applications include a voice recorder, a Zip manager, Sprite Backup, a calculator, and a Task Manager to help optimize CPU and memory usage. The Treo Pro comes with 128MB RAM and 256MB storage (about 100MB of it is user accessible).
The Palm Treo Pro features a microSD expansion slot, which is located behind the battery cover. It can accept up to 32GB microSDHC cards.
For e-mail, you get Microsoft's Direct Push Technology for real-time message delivery and automatic synchronization with your Outlook calendar, tasks, and contacts via Exchange Server. You can also configure the Treo Pro to access POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts, which, in most cases, is a simple process of inputting your username and password. We were able to set up our Yahoo account on our review unit with no problem and started receiving e-mail within a few minutes. Windows Live Messenger is the only instant-messaging client preloaded on the smartphone.
Phone features on the Treo Pro include quad-band world roaming, a speakerphone, speed dial, smart dialing, conference calling, and text and multimedia messaging. The contact book is limited only by the available memory (the SIM card holds an additional 250 contacts), and there's room in each entry for multiple numbers, e-mail addresses, instant-messaging handles, and birthdays. For caller ID purposes, you can assign a picture, one of 37 polyphonic ringtones, or a group ID. Bluetooth 2.0 is also onboard for use with mono and stereo Bluetooth headsets, hands-free kits, object exchange, and dial-up networking.
The Treo Pro is a 3G-capable handset as well. More specifically, it supports the 850/1900 HSDPA bands, which means you'll be able to get 3.5G speeds, provided that you are using an AT&T SIM. T-Mobile's 3G network operates on the 1700/2100 bands so you won't be able to enjoy the same advantages. Fortunately, the smartphone also has integrated Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), providing an alternative method for surfing the Web. Simply press the one-touch button on the right side of the smartphone to turn on the Wi-Fi and connect to a network. The smartphone will automatically scan for available networks and allows for authentication and data encryption.
The smartphone also has integrated GPS for your navigation needs. To speed up the process of determining your location, the Treo Pro includes a utility called QuickGPS that downloads the latest satellite information via an Internet connection. Google Maps is also preloaded on the device, which provides turn-by-turn directions, local search, traffic updates, and more. However, for real road warriors, you might want to consider getting a full location-based service, such as TeleNav, so you can get more robust navigation features, including text- and voice-guided directions and a fuel price finder.
While it's been all business up to this point, Palm includes some features to bring some balance between work and play. First, you get the standard Windows Media Player 10 Mobile that allows you to enjoy your AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA, MPEG-4, and WMV files, to name a few. Plus, if you have TV shows recorded on your Windows Media Center PC, you can transfer them to your device for on-the-go viewing or stream your home's TV programming right to your device with a Slingbox and SlingPlayer Mobile. The Treo Pro's microSD expansion slot is designed to accept up to 32GB cards (when available), so you can fill up a high-capacity card and enjoy all your media.
On back of the smartphone, you will find the Treo Pro's 2-megapixel camera. There's no flash, but you do get 8x zoom and video-recording capabilities.
The smartphone is also equipped with a 2-megapixel camera with 8x zoom and video recording capabilities. You can shoot still images in one of five resolutions and one of four quality settings. There's no flash, but you do get effects and white balance and brightness controls. A self-timer and time stamp are also available. In video mode, options are a bit more limited. You have your choice of four resolutions and can adjust the picture via white balance, brightness settings, and effects. There's no limit to recording length.
Picture quality was mediocre. There was good definition but colors looked washed out.
Picture quality wasn't the most impressive. While objects were clearly defined, colors looked washed out. No matter how much we adjusted the white balance and brightness settings, we could never get the tones to look right. Video quality was acceptable for short clips.
PerformanceWe tested the quad-band Palm Treo Pro (GSM 850/900/1800/1900; UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900) in San Francisco and call quality was decent. For the most part, we enjoyed crisp and loud audio on our end, but there were a couple of instances where voices sounded garbled or we heard a bit of cackling. Still, the overall experience was good and we were also able to use an airline's voice automated response system with no problem. On the other side, our friends reported good results with just a couple reports of an echo. Speakerphone quality was OK. We were able to carry on conversations, but calls sounded a bit hollow and at the highest volume setting, audio could sound slightly blown out. We were able to pair the Treo Pro with the Logitech Mobile Traveller Bluetooth headset and the Motorola S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones with no problem.
Armed with a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7201 processor, the Treo Pro's general performance was OK, but not great. While we didn't suffer any system crashes during our review period, we definitely experienced some of that notorious sluggishness that plagues Windows Mobile devices. It wasn't any better or worse than other Windows Mobile smartphones, but frustrating nonetheless. On a brighter note, the Web browsing experience was swift, thanks to the HSDPA boost. The Treo Pro was also able to find and connect to our Wi-Fi network, and we were also able to enjoy surfing the Net that way. As for multimedia performance, music playback through the phone's speakers sounded one-sided and lacked bass. We're pleased that Palm included a 3.5mm headphone jack, however, and we had a much better experience listening to music with a nice pair of earbuds. Watching video was fine in short spurts, and audio and images were already synchronized.
The Palm Treo Pro's 1,500mAh lithium ion battery has a rated talk time of five hours and up to 10 days of standby time. We are still conducting our battery drain tests and will update this section as soon as we have results. According to FCC radiation tests, the Treo Pro has a digital SAR rating of 1.5 watts per kilogram.

The Palm Treo Pro is designed for business users, and while the cute, gelatinous buttons might be OK for the consumer-centric Centro, it looks a bit unprofessional and childlike on the Treo Pro. We would have preferred the hard buttons from previous Treos.
On the left spine, there's a volume rocker and a customizable side key, while the right side has a Wi-Fi power button. The top of the unit has a power button and silent ringer switch. A microUSB port and 3.5 headphone jack are located on the bottom. Finally, the camera lens (sans flash or self-portrait mirror) and a side speaker are on the back, and a microSD expansion slot is hidden behind the battery cover.
In a first, Palm will ship the Treo Pro in sustainable packaging, which includes recycled content and a recyclable box.
The packaging and accessories included with the Palm Treo Pro are worth a mention. First, Palm is doing its part to help the environment by shipping the Treo Pro in a recyclable box and other recycled material. The user manuals are printed with soy ink, and the software CD (containing ActiveSync and more) is now preinstalled on the smartphone. You should be able to simply connect the device to your computer via USB cable, and access the content or install ActiveSync. As for the actual accessories, Palm revamped the power charger that lets you swap out the adapters and improved earbuds. In all, the Palm Treo Pro comes packaged with an AC adapter, a USB cable, a wired stereo headset, and reference material. FeaturesThe Palm Treo Pro marks a great advance for the Treo line, but when compared with the competition, it doesn't offer anything revolutionary. It's simply playing catch up. As the name would suggest, the Palm Treo Pro is designed for mobile professionals and is an evolution for the Treo line, but doesn't offer any revolutionary features. The smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition, complete with the full Microsoft Office Mobile Suite for editing native Word and Excel documents, and viewing PowerPoint presentations. In addition, Palm ships the Treo Pro with Internet Explorer Mobile, Windows Live integration, OneNote Mobile, a PDF reader, and the WorldMate Pro travel suite to help globetrotters stay on track. Other productivity applications include a voice recorder, a Zip manager, Sprite Backup, a calculator, and a Task Manager to help optimize CPU and memory usage. The Treo Pro comes with 128MB RAM and 256MB storage (about 100MB of it is user accessible).
The Palm Treo Pro features a microSD expansion slot, which is located behind the battery cover. It can accept up to 32GB microSDHC cards.
For e-mail, you get Microsoft's Direct Push Technology for real-time message delivery and automatic synchronization with your Outlook calendar, tasks, and contacts via Exchange Server. You can also configure the Treo Pro to access POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts, which, in most cases, is a simple process of inputting your username and password. We were able to set up our Yahoo account on our review unit with no problem and started receiving e-mail within a few minutes. Windows Live Messenger is the only instant-messaging client preloaded on the smartphone.
Phone features on the Treo Pro include quad-band world roaming, a speakerphone, speed dial, smart dialing, conference calling, and text and multimedia messaging. The contact book is limited only by the available memory (the SIM card holds an additional 250 contacts), and there's room in each entry for multiple numbers, e-mail addresses, instant-messaging handles, and birthdays. For caller ID purposes, you can assign a picture, one of 37 polyphonic ringtones, or a group ID. Bluetooth 2.0 is also onboard for use with mono and stereo Bluetooth headsets, hands-free kits, object exchange, and dial-up networking.
The Treo Pro is a 3G-capable handset as well. More specifically, it supports the 850/1900 HSDPA bands, which means you'll be able to get 3.5G speeds, provided that you are using an AT&T SIM. T-Mobile's 3G network operates on the 1700/2100 bands so you won't be able to enjoy the same advantages. Fortunately, the smartphone also has integrated Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), providing an alternative method for surfing the Web. Simply press the one-touch button on the right side of the smartphone to turn on the Wi-Fi and connect to a network. The smartphone will automatically scan for available networks and allows for authentication and data encryption.
The smartphone also has integrated GPS for your navigation needs. To speed up the process of determining your location, the Treo Pro includes a utility called QuickGPS that downloads the latest satellite information via an Internet connection. Google Maps is also preloaded on the device, which provides turn-by-turn directions, local search, traffic updates, and more. However, for real road warriors, you might want to consider getting a full location-based service, such as TeleNav, so you can get more robust navigation features, including text- and voice-guided directions and a fuel price finder.
While it's been all business up to this point, Palm includes some features to bring some balance between work and play. First, you get the standard Windows Media Player 10 Mobile that allows you to enjoy your AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA, MPEG-4, and WMV files, to name a few. Plus, if you have TV shows recorded on your Windows Media Center PC, you can transfer them to your device for on-the-go viewing or stream your home's TV programming right to your device with a Slingbox and SlingPlayer Mobile. The Treo Pro's microSD expansion slot is designed to accept up to 32GB cards (when available), so you can fill up a high-capacity card and enjoy all your media.
On back of the smartphone, you will find the Treo Pro's 2-megapixel camera. There's no flash, but you do get 8x zoom and video-recording capabilities.
The smartphone is also equipped with a 2-megapixel camera with 8x zoom and video recording capabilities. You can shoot still images in one of five resolutions and one of four quality settings. There's no flash, but you do get effects and white balance and brightness controls. A self-timer and time stamp are also available. In video mode, options are a bit more limited. You have your choice of four resolutions and can adjust the picture via white balance, brightness settings, and effects. There's no limit to recording length.
Picture quality was mediocre. There was good definition but colors looked washed out.

PerformanceWe tested the quad-band Palm Treo Pro (GSM 850/900/1800/1900; UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900) in San Francisco and call quality was decent. For the most part, we enjoyed crisp and loud audio on our end, but there were a couple of instances where voices sounded garbled or we heard a bit of cackling. Still, the overall experience was good and we were also able to use an airline's voice automated response system with no problem. On the other side, our friends reported good results with just a couple reports of an echo. Speakerphone quality was OK. We were able to carry on conversations, but calls sounded a bit hollow and at the highest volume setting, audio could sound slightly blown out. We were able to pair the Treo Pro with the Logitech Mobile Traveller Bluetooth headset and the Motorola S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones with no problem.
Armed with a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7201 processor, the Treo Pro's general performance was OK, but not great. While we didn't suffer any system crashes during our review period, we definitely experienced some of that notorious sluggishness that plagues Windows Mobile devices. It wasn't any better or worse than other Windows Mobile smartphones, but frustrating nonetheless. On a brighter note, the Web browsing experience was swift, thanks to the HSDPA boost. The Treo Pro was also able to find and connect to our Wi-Fi network, and we were also able to enjoy surfing the Net that way. As for multimedia performance, music playback through the phone's speakers sounded one-sided and lacked bass. We're pleased that Palm included a 3.5mm headphone jack, however, and we had a much better experience listening to music with a nice pair of earbuds. Watching video was fine in short spurts, and audio and images were already synchronized.
The Palm Treo Pro's 1,500mAh lithium ion battery has a rated talk time of five hours and up to 10 days of standby time. We are still conducting our battery drain tests and will update this section as soon as we have results. According to FCC radiation tests, the Treo Pro has a digital SAR rating of 1.5 watts per kilogram.

An Apple patent application published today rehashes some concepts and diagrams from 2006 patent but generates continued interest due to persistant rumors that Apple may release a multi-touch tablet Mac.

U.K. iPhone Ad Banned Due to 'Misleading Claims'
The Guardian reports that a television ad for the Apple iPhone has been banned by the U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority after receiving complains about misleading claims. The television ad which can be viewed online claims that "all the parts of the internet are on the iPhone." The complaints about the ad pointed out that the iPhone does not support Flash or Java which may be required for some websites. The Advertising Standards Authority concluded that "the ad gave a misleading impression of the internet capabilities of the iPhone".Apple responded by saying that the purpose of the ad was to point the iPhone's ability to access standard websites and that it could not ensure compatibility with "every third-party technology in the marketplace".

More than just an iPod update on September 9?
While rumors have focused on iPod Nano and iPod Touch updates as early as September 9th, the fate of the MacBook Pros and other updates have been less clear.It appears, however, that Apple could be prepping for a wide range of product updates, with signals to at least some resellers to halt resupplies of Mac minis, MacBook Pros, iPods and even Cinema Displays.Unfortunately, reseller signals can be misleading and could simply represent temporary supply shortages. Best Buy, for example, had shortages of MacBooks towards the end of July. Our buyer's guide does show that many of Apple's products are due for revision

Apple Event for September 9th?
As rumors continue to build of upcoming Apple product updates, more hints are starting to suggest that Apple will be holding a special event in September to launch these new products. A rumor over the weekend originating from Kevin Rose claimed that we could see iPod Nano and iPod Touch updates in the next few weeks. A subsequent report from Rose indicated that September 9th could be the date for the launch. While we had initially housed that rumor on which consolidates minor news and unverified tidbits, an ArsTechnica article now suggests that there may be some validity to that "general date". More possible case photos for the upcoming 4th Gen iPod Nano and 2nd Generation iPod Touch have also been posted.

New iPod nano and touch revealed by case manufacturers?
Apple iPod case manufacturers seemed totally unthinkable? Yeah, those times are over -- check out these silicone cases for a fourth-gen iPod nano and second-gen iPod touch that just appeared on Alibaba. We're not totally sold on the touch cases, but the nanos look way more legit, especially since we've seen some others matching this general look before; while nano KIRFs in this form factor aren't uncommon, we'd say it's pretty unlikely that anyone's making several different types of silicone cases for them. We're not calling this anywhere near 100 percent yet, but let's just say we're hoping Apple's press photographers can make the new nano look a whole lot better than our pal Mr. Blurrycam by the time September 9th rolls around. Mobile Days!
If you have a Mobile Me account it will be exstended for even longer. Apple already offered 30 days and now adding on to it 60 days. So apple give us 90 extra days for there mistakes, and applys to any one who created there account prior to Augest 18, 2008! We got our email and will post it in the morning!

Apple 2.0.2 for iPod touch/iPhone
The 2.0.2 update improves a number of things! I tried opening apps and closing them opening and closing. To all of my 60 apps. Not one of them crashed or froze. The app store no longer freezes, improved battery life and no Lagging in the keyboard. 2.0.1 was supposed to fix the lagging but it did not. Thank you apple for fixing the locate me feature I Google Maps. We have still yet to unviel more fixes and features that will be posted to let you know. People say that it did not go the iPhone 3G reception problems. We only have an iPod touch and are still testing it! The iPhone/iPod touch 2.1 will be avable in September.

Also some say a new Mac Mini! Last and Least color iPhones. With a product red casing. This is just rumors, but we really do think a new touch an Mac book will be coming!
Also it has been confirmed that the 2.1 Update will be avable by the end of September!

The 2.0.1 update for the iPod touch/iPhone improves a number of thing! We got 2.0.1 on our Apple ipod touch and heres the scoop. You can now drag an app icon across multiple pages in one motion, rather than having to drag it, drop it, pick it up again and drag it over to next page, and repeat.-Contacts are now more responsive.After installing 2.0.1, each successive backup is much faster.Apple may have changed the calibration of the iPhone's reception "bars" while connected to a 3G network to reflect a stronger signal than before.-Keypad loads quicker.-Screen rotation in Safari appears to be smoother.-Some apps may ask to be updated after the firmware upgrade.

AIM for an Update
Today AOL just updated AIM for iPod touch/iPhone! Are you downloading it for the first time? If yes don't worry you will have the updated version.

Update: Well, it took its sweet time to install, but things seem a little tighter and snappier all around. We'll give it a day or so of actual usage before we pronounce things A-OK, though -- how's it going for you? You can get the new 2.0.1 update here.
Next Gen Mac Book Pictures
We are not sure it the pictures above are legit. But we have leaked pictures of the next gen Mac Book due in September. As promised by Apple that there would be an aluminm Mac Book in 2008 this may be it. We will keep you posted.
